Kickin’!
Here’s a project I put together last Sunday, inspired by a conversation with Mike (and with lots of useful advice from him). Full-day’s labor; $125 for parts, using my old receiver for an amp. BOOM-BOOM! Yes, that’s my fireplace. It’s an old gas system, so I can’t use it unless I get an insert anyway. I’ll be using the subwoofer a lot more than a fire.
- 2 12″ Subwoofers from Radio Shack, on sale (1/2 off) for $40 each.
- MDF board (dense stuff!), $8
- Speaker connector wall plate, $15
- Brackets, handles, screws, and contact paper, ~$20

Re: Kickin’!
Well, I tested the sucker out with the tank scene from Saving Private Ryan. Wow! Yup, it works! I put it together mainly for watching movies, but it fills out the lower end of my music, too.
